Jackie Yap is an entrepreneur-turned associate in venture capital firm and family office, focusing in deal structuring and portfolio management.
Investment portfolio ranges from grain farming, real estate properties, manufacturing factories, plantations, robotics, retail operation, and other technology and industrials businesses across various countries. Being the entrepreneur behind entrepreneurs, he is equipped to drive growth with the portfolio companies given his skill sets of finance, investment and entrepreneurship.
Apart from being part of the Forbes 30 under 30, he was invited to speak at TEDx event about sustainability. He spoke at Chevening, an UK government's international scholarship scheme.
While in Stanford University, due to his work in sustainability, he was awarded second best startup among 1000+ companies in Silicon Valley during the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2016, a summit hosted by Former US President, Barack Obama. He is also part of Transformational Business Network (TBN), Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF), and Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN).
He received awards in multiple cities because of the works he has done in HiGi Energy, for example, Jakarta (Indonesia), Saigon (Viet Nam), and definitely Manila (The Philippines). He has been interviewed by Forbes, Reuters, Voice of America (VOA), Global Entrepreneurship Summit News, Rappler, Philstar, The Sun, TAYO Awards, GMA, Manila Standards, for his works in sustainability. His achievement has also been written in Japanese, Thai, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese, and English.
It is his life mission to lift people out of poverty by equipping businesses to integrate business model with sustainability. In his professional work experience, he has worked with WWF Philippines, Oracle Netsuite, UBS and Credit Suisse in some of the corporate social initiatives.
Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, Jackie Yap deferred his Ph.D in optimizing combined solar wind power generator with an Oxford professor. He holds a Bachelor degree in Engineering, major in renewable energy from University of National Energy. He also attended entrepreneurship programs in Stanford University.
He is also the co-author of the book "Sustainable Energy Solutions for Remote Areas in the Tropics", published on Springer.
